What Is Self-Care and Practice It
Summary
- How much of your present time are you spending in the future?
- Self care is about the time you spend on your future self.
- Planning, making the doctor appointments, exercising are more about self care to help out our future self.
- How much time are we spending time in the past (berating ourself on what we did yesterday, like yelling at our kids)?
- 1. A lack of self-care shows up in the present moment by how much we give in to our instant desires (instant gratification) to alleviate how we feel right now or about something in the past.
- 2. Self care is an action. It is often a blatant solution for everything. If we yell in our reltionships, we get the advice to practice self-care.
- That is swapping one action (yelling) for another (self care, like exercise or sleep).
- 3. We think self care is selfish and not an act of love.
- We tend to believe doing more (sacrificing) is coming from love. It isn’t.
- Self-care comes from a place of love. Sacrificing is usually coming from fear/anxiety which leads to burn out.
