Understanding our reactive emotions and what to do about them
Summary
- F.A.S.T = Fear/Frustrated, Anger/Anxiety, Stress/Sensations, Tired/Touched out
- Fast emotions means they are reactive and feel out of control.
- These types of emotions are there for our survival, so that we react quickly.
- Often we react quickly to them when we are safe and not in a survival situations.
- These emotions are telling us a message like when we’re tired, our body needs rest.
- These emotions become a problem in our daily lives when we feel these often.
- The solution is not to solve for the F.A.S.T emotion; instead work on the emotions that come after – like guilt, shame.
- Work on the slower emotions first and that will open up how to manage the F.A.S.T emotions better.
