How to Move Through and Forward
Summary
- This is something to hold onto the next time you hear “Get over it” or you’re telling yourself “I just need to move on.” And you’re not able to do it.
- First, what is the ‘it’?
- It’s almost always going to be an emotion.
- We sometimes don’t realise we’re stuck in an emotion and don’t realise this.
- Stuck is another way of saying an emotion has been rooted in our body and it needs help/attention to help it move.
- Second, is to accept that you’re stuck; we’ve probably spent a lot of time resisting it, pushing the emotion away.
- Third, is to think of maybe not getting over it but moving through it.
- Some emotional experiences require time and/or help.
- Family/friends are not usually equipped to recognise the fact that you’re processing (you’re not at the solution part).
- Fourth, figure out if this requires more attention and help.
- Depending on training, therapists and/or life coaches are equipped to handle get through emotional experiences.
