Ep 166: Unanswered and Unfinished

How Our Brain Likes Things

Summary

  • Our brains want to answer questions.
  • Our brains want to finish / accomplish things.
  • The brain’s main function is there for us to survive, in the most efficient way possible.
  • It will maintain the status quo and in order to improve our emotional health, we need to get back at the things in the back of our minds.
  • Answer the question: Why is he/she like that?
  • Whenever your brain has a question, answer it with what you think; what did my mother treat me like that.
  • The answer to the question may not be pretty but looking at it doesn’t mean that it didn’t exist.
  • We can become of aware of what has been lingering in our brain affecting our life, our emotional health.
  • Finishing tasks that our on our plate, nagging at us like change the lightbulb, get the dress altered, send the holiday cards frees up mental space.
  • Because we don’t tend to it doesn’t mean our brain is not spending energy on it. It’s there nagging us (whether we’re aware or not).
