When You Don’t Know How You Feel
Summary
- You can know how you feel without all the EQ (emotional intelligence) verbage.
- Feeling is innately human, a skill that within and needs to be developed.
- We, usually, weren’t raised to allow emotions; often told to avoid and distract them.
- Practice feelings on a daily basis and not when a big trigger hits (yelling or fit a rage).
- Set aside one minute each day to check in with one body part.
- Within one minute write down what it feels like.
- What do my feet feel? They feel cold, hurt…
- Break it down further to the big toe, arch (when you get stuck)
- Your brain begins to free itself with this one minute routine each day.
- An openness begins in your body and that opens other sensations, thoughts, feelings.
- Clarity about how we feel (even without the words) starts as our brain gets used to this habit.
