Three Things I Wish I Knew About Emotions
Summary
- Emotions versus Sensations – The Mind Body Connection
- Emotions are created in the mind and then produced in the body.
- Emotion = ex + motion (movement moves out of the body).
- Sensation communicates from the body to mind (hunger, thirst, cold, hot).
- When you experience an emotion, it doesn’t look like anything.
- We tend to avoid, react and resist emotions (often we can see this through actions). Crying is a reaction to sadness.
- Processing an emotion (feeling it) can happen while you do something else (there isn’t a visible representation to it).
- It’s not necessary to know and label our emotions as suggested with emotional intelligence. Start with the sad, bad, glad, mad.
